In this section of the Heart of Hinduism we consider how the practices oulined in other sections are influenced by the times and places in which Hinduism is practiced. No religion is static – religious practice involves negotiated relationships according to time, place, and circumstance.

The central theme in this section is authority – its role in ensuring the continuity of a tradition and its ability to successfully adapt to changing circumstances.
