{"id":250,"date":"2018-01-31T12:29:30","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T12:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iskconeducationalservices.org\/HoH\/?page_id=250"},"modified":"2018-02-20T14:22:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-20T14:22:04","slug":"the-trimurti","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iskconeducationalservices.org\/HoH\/practice\/worship\/the-trimurti\/","title":{"rendered":"The Trimurti"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-2bd894dbf2e4bf2c4acf98ce4fbf94aa '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h3><strong>The Trimurti<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Brahma \u2013 the creator (in charge of <em>raja-guna<\/em> \u2013 the quality of passion).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vishnu \u2013 the maintainer (in charge of <em>sattva-guna<\/em> \u2013 the quality of goodness).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shiva \u2013 the destroyer (in charge of <em>tama-guna<\/em> \u2013 the quality of ignorance).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the material world there are three principal deities called the <em>trimurti<\/em> (literally &#8220;three deities&#8221;).They correspond to God&#8217;s functions of creation, sustenance and destruction (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/iskconeducationalservices.org\/HoH\/concepts\/key-concepts\/prakriti-matter\/\">Prakriti and Guna<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>God also exists beyond this world, as an impersonal force and\/or as the Supreme Person. Direct worship of Brahma is rare, and in India there is only one major temple dedicated to him in Pushkar, Rajasthan. Shiva is in charge of universal destruction, though he also has a role in creation.
